Tadoba National Park – The Jewel of Maharashtra

Tadoba National Park is the oldest and larget national park in Maharashtra. This is also called as “Andheri Tadoba Tiger Reserve”. This is located in Chandrapur district of Maharashtra and 150 kms distance from Nagpur city.

Safari Timing

You can see tiger, leopard, wild dogs, sloth bear, etc.in safari. There are three zones (Moharli / Mohurli Zone, Tadoba Zone, and Kolsa Zone) in this forest. The timings are mentioned here. You need to report an hour before at safari point.

Flora

Arjun trees, Lantana Camara, Kach Kujali (used to treat Parkinson’s disease), Parthenium Hysterophorus, Tendu, Axlewood Anogeissus Latifolia, Ain (crocodile bark), Bija, Black Plum trees, Bheria, Hald, Beheda, Dhauda, Semal, Neem, Hyptis Suaveolens, Salai. Teak is most common tree in this forest.

Wild Animals

Royal Bengal Tiger, sloth bears, flying squirrel, chinkara, small Indian civet, jungle cats, gaur, cheetal, dhole, chausingha, nilgai, langoors, leopard, barking deer, sambar, striped hyena.

How to book safari in Tadoba National Park

You can book safari through online through any autorised tour operators or you can book offline directly at Tadoba National Park. The safari timings in winter season starts at 6 AM to 6:30 PM and in summer season 5 AM to 7 PM. Jeep safari starts INR 5,000 per vehicle. If you are willing to go in canter safari costs INR 800 per visitor. And it is not refundable.

There are two types of zones, Core zone and Buffer zone. In the core zone there are six gates and in the buffer zone there are 16 gates. In safari you can witness Sloth bears, honey badger, Indian leopards, gaur, chital, barking deer, dhole, jungle cats, Bengal Tigers, chausingha, small Indian civet, nilgai, and many more.

Do’s

  • Always listen to your guide instructions.
  • Wear appropriate color clothing and footwear.
  • Valid ID proof and permit is must for the safari.
  • Keep a safe distance from the wild animals and don’t approach them.
  • Be quiet and don’t make loud noises. This can disturb the animals and ruin the experience for others.
  • Flash photography is prohibited. Take plenty of images of wildlife and birds. Binoculars is must for better experience.

Don’ts

  • Do not litter any waste in the park.
  • Do not smoke or fire in the park.
  • Do not feed the animals. This may cause change in their behaviour and it may hurt the animals health.
  • Do not get down from the vehicle or jeep during the safari.
  • Do not wear bright or flashy clothing.
